Passenger-side AIR Bag Module

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Remove passenger-side air bag module from vehicle and place module on a clean, dry, work bench with trim cover facing upward. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Make a 0.335" (8.5 mm) diameter hole in Air Bag Module Bracket (J41246) at position shown in diagram. See Fig 1 . Firmly secure air bag module bracket in a vise. Match 2 holes in air bag module bracket and passenger-side air bag module and secure with 2 bolts (8 mm X 25-30 mm). See Fig 2 . If necessary, place a block of wood between air bag module and air bag module bracket to stabilize air bag module.
  3. Connect Air Bag Deployment Adapter (J38381-65) to Air Bag Deployment Tool (J38381) and passenger-side air bag module connector. Position a fully charged 12-volt battery at least 16 ft. (5 m) from deployment area. Connect Red deployment tool clip to positive battery terminal and Black deployment tool clip to negative battery terminal.
  4. Ensure deployment tool power lamp glows Green. If deployment tool power lamp glows Red, reverse battery connections and recheck lamp. Ensure no one is within 16 ft (5 m) of air bag module. Press deployment tool button to deploy air bag.
