NOTE: Cooling fans can also be diagnosed using appropriate self-diagnostic trouble shooting codes. A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is set when a cooling fan problem arises. See DTC P1217: ENGINE OVER TEMPERATURE (OVERHEAT) under appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
