Master Cylinder

  1. Tighten flange of master cylinder into a vise. Remove brake fluid from reservoir and remove reservoir. With a 4-mm pin punch, drive out spring pin from caliper assembly. See Fig 1 . Remove valve stopper while lightly pushing primary piston into cylinder. Remove snap ring while pushing primary piston inward. Remove piston assemblies.
  2. If secondary piston assembly is difficult to remove, tap flange of master cylinder with a soft block of wood. Replace parts as necessary. Inspect inner wall of cylinder for damage, wear, corrosion, and pin holes. Replace cylinder if defective.
  3. NOTE: DO NOT use any dropped parts.
    CAUTION: DO NOT reuse primary and secondary piston assemblies.
  4. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure.
