Master Cylinder

- Tighten flange of master cylinder into a vise. Remove brake fluid from reservoir and remove reservoir. With a 4-mm pin punch, drive out spring pin from caliper assembly. See Fig 1 . Remove valve stopper while lightly pushing primary piston into cylinder. Remove snap ring while pushing primary piston inward. Remove piston assemblies.
- If secondary piston assembly is difficult to remove, tap flange of master cylinder with a soft block of wood. Replace parts as necessary. Inspect inner wall of cylinder for damage, wear, corrosion, and pin holes. Replace cylinder if defective.
- To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure.
NOTE:
DO NOT use any dropped parts.
CAUTION:
DO NOT reuse primary and secondary piston assemblies.
