Steering Linkage: Removal

- PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- DRAIN POWER STEERING FLUID
- REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
- Fix the steering wheel with the seat belt in order to prevent rotation.
HINT:
This operation is useful to prevent damage to the spiral cable.
- Put matchmarks on the No. 2 intermediate shaft assembly and the intermediate shaft.
- Remove the bolt, and then disconnect the No. 2 intermediate shaft assembly from the intermediate shaft.
- Fix the steering wheel with the seat belt in order to prevent rotation.
- DISCONNECT NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
- REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
- REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
- SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See REMOVAL )
- SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT:
Perform the same procedure as for the LH.
- DISCONNECT PRESSURE FEED TUBE ASSEMBLY
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the tube clamp from the power steering link.
- Using SST, disconnect the pressure feed tube.

- SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH (See REMOVAL )
- SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

Perform the same procedure as for the LH.
- SEPARATE FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUBASSEMBLY LH LOWER (See REMOVAL )
- SEPARATE FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUBASSEMBLY RH LOWER
HINT:
Perform the same procedure as for the LH.
- REMOVE FRONT FLOOR PANEL BRACE (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- SUSPEND ENGINE ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 1 HOOK
- Remove the 2 bolts and the hook.
- REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 4 bolts and separate the center member.
- Remove the bolt and 3 nuts and disconnect the engine mounting insulator rear from the crossmember.
- Using a transmission jack, support the crossmember.
- Remove the 4 bolts and crossmember bracket LH.
- Remove the 4 bolts and crossmember bracket RH.
- Remove the 2 nuts and crossmember with power steering link.
- REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT
- Put matchmarks on the intermediate shaft and the pinion shaft.
- Remove the bolt and intermediate shaft.
- REMOVE POWER STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts and power steering link from the crossmember.NOTE: Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut fixed.
- Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts and power steering link from the crossmember.
