Removal And Installation: Installation
- Check drive plate runout.CAUTION: Do not allow any magnetic materials to contact the ring gear teeth.
- Maximum allowable runout : Refer to FLYWHEEL/DRIVE PLATE RUNOUT .
If this runout is out of specification, replace drive plate with ring gear.
- When connecting torque converter to transmission, measure distance "A" to be certain that they are correctly assembled.
- Distance "A" : 26.0 mm (1.024 in) or more
- Install converter to drive plate.
- Rotate crankshaft to gain access to securing bolts.
- If necessary, install tool to keep crankshaft from rotating.
- Tool number : - J-45499
- With converter installed, rotate crankshaft several turns to check that transmission rotates freely without binding.
- Install the rear plate.
- Rear plate bolts
- 10 mm 3-4 Nm (0.3-0.4 kg-m, 32-35 in-lb)
- 14 mm 16-22 Nm (1.6 2.2kg-m, 12-16 ft-lb)
- Tighten bolts securing transmission.
- Installation of the remaining components is in the reverse order of removal.
- Adjust control cable. Refer to CONTROL CABLE ADJUSTMENT
- Adjust throttle wire. Refer to THROTTLE WIRE ADJUSTMENT .
- Adjust PNP switch. Refer to PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION (PNP) SWITCH ADJUSTMENT .
- Refill transmission with ATF and check fluid level.
- Move selector lever through all positions to be sure that transmission operates correctly.
With parking brake applied, allow engine to idle. Move selector lever through N to D, to 2, to 1 and to R. A slight shock should be felt through hand gripping the selector each time the transmission is shifted.
- Perform road test. Refer to ROAD TEST .
