Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti G35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
For component location, see COMPONENT LOCATIONS . For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For circuit diagram, see Figure . For ECM pin voltage reference values, see Fig 1 .
- Turn ignition off. Loosen and retighten engine ground screws. See Figure . Then, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect electric throttle control actuator harness connector F31. Disconnect ECM harness connector F101. Check continuity between electric throttle control actuator harness connector F31 and ECM harness connector F101 specified terminals. See ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR-TO-ECM CONTINUITY table. Also check for short to ground or short to power. If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary.
- Check throttle control motor. Disconnect electric throttle control actuator harness connector F31. Measure resistance between electric throttle control actuator terminals No. 3 and 6 (component side). Resistance reading should be about 1-15 ohms at 77°F (25°C). If resistance reading is as specified, go to next step. If resistance reading is not as specified, go to step 5 .
- No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary.
- Replace electric throttle control actuator. See INTAKE MANIFOLD COLLECTOR (FX35 & G35) under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article. Perform THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING and IDLE AIR VOLUME LEARNING procedures under PROGRAMMING.
