DTC Confirmation Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti G35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If a DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing next DTC confirmation test. Driving vehicle uphill (increased engine load) will help maintain the driving conditions required for this procedure. Ensure battery voltage is 10-16 volts.
  1. Turn ignition on. Select DATA MONITOR mode with scan tool.
  2. Start engine and warm it to normal operating temperature.
  3. Maintain the following conditions for at least 6 consecutive seconds, while holding the accelerator pedal as steady as possible:
    • VHCL SPEED SE: 63-75 MPH (100-120 km/h).
    • ENG SPEED: 2000-4000 RPM.
    • COOLANT TEMP/S: 140-248°F (60-120°C).
    • B/FUEL SCHDL: More than 7.26 milliseconds.
    • Selector lever: "D" position.
  4. Stop vehicle with engine running and let engine idle for 10 seconds.
  5. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, go to next step.
  6. Maintain the following conditions for at least 20 consecutive seconds:
    • ENG SPEED: 1800-3175 RPM (a constant rotation is maintained).
    • COOLANT TEMP/S: 158-221°F (70-105°C).
  7. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
