Test B: Unexpected Pedal Action

  1. Depress brake pedal. If brake pedal stroke is excessively long, perform PRELIMINARY CHECKS  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If a problem is found, repair as necessary. If brake pedal stroke is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect ABS actuator/control unit 31 pin harness connector. Road test vehicle and check if braking is effective. If braking is effective, go to next step. If braking is not effective, perform PRELIMINARY CHECKS  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If a problem is found, repair as necessary and retest. SeeSELF-DIAGNOSTICS  .
  3. Road test vehicle and observe ABS warning light. If ABS warning lamp stays off, go to next step. If ABS warning lamp is on, perform self-diagnostics. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS  .
  4. Check wheel speed sensor connectors for damaged pins, corrosion and loose wires. Repair as necessary and retest. If connectors are okay, check each wheel sensor for damage. Replace as necessary. See FRONT/REAR WHEEL SENSORS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
