Clutch System: Description
Clutch assembly is a single-disc type with a diaphragm-spring pressure plate. All models except 1999 Sentra use a hydraulic control system consisting of a master cylinder, slave cylinder, release lever and release bearing. Clutch master cylinder is on firewall with a nonadjustable slave cylinder on clutch housing. See Fig 1. 1999 Sentra uses a mechanical control system consisting of clutch cable, release lever and release bearing. Pathfinder also has a clutch damper located in-line between master cylinder and slave cylinder. Frontier, Sentra and Xterra have a clutch damper as part of master cylinder.
