Anti-Lock Brake System: Description
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) prevents wheel lock-up during abrupt braking or when braking on slippery surfaces. The system detects wheel rotation rate and electronically controls fluid pressure applied to brakes.
A slight vibration and noise may be noticed during hard braking. These conditions are normal and indicate anti-lock brake system is functioning properly. Components include ABS control unit, actuator assembly, 2 front wheel sensors and 2 rear wheel sensors. See Fig 1 .
