Description & Operation
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) prevents wheel lock-up during abrupt braking. The system detects wheel rotation rate and electronically controls fluid pressure applied to brakes.
A slight vibration and noise may be noticed during hard braking. These conditions are normal and indicate anti-lock brake system is functioning properly. If a malfunction occurs in system, anti-lock feature will not function, but conventional brakes will continue to operate normally. Components include ABS control unit, actuator assembly, actuator valve and motor relays, 2 front wheel speed sensors and 2 rear wheel speed sensors. See Fig 1 .
