Test No. 3
NOTE:
If Nissan CONSULT scan tool is not available, begin testing at step 2).
- Check Door Switch Input Signal
Using scan tool in DATA MONITOR mode, check status of each door switch. If scan tool displays DOOR SW ON with door open, and DOOR SW OFF with door closed, go to step 3). If scan tool display is not as specified, check each door switch and door switch ground circuit. Check for open or short in wiring harness between BCM and door switches. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. - Check Door Switch Input Signal
Check all door switches in Mode II (switch signal monitor). See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS article. If all door switch input signals are detected, go to step 4). If all door switch input signals are not detected, check door switches and door switch ground circuits. Check for open or short in wiring harness between BCM and door switches. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. - Check Door Unlock Sensor Input Signal
Using scan tool in DATA MONITOR mode, check status of each door unlock sensor. If scan tool displays LOCK SIG LOCK when door is locked, and LOCK SIG UNLK with door unlocked, go to step 5). If scan tool display is not as specified, check door unlock sensor and sensor ground circuit. Check for open or short in wiring harness between door unlock sensor and appropriate LCU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . - Check Door Unlock Sensor Input Signal
Check front door lock knob operation in Mode II (switch signal monitor). See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS article. If lock knob input signals are detected, go to step 6). If lock knob input signals are not detected, check door unlock sensor and sensor ground circuit. Check for open or short in wiring harness between door unlock sensor and appropriate LCU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . - Check Ignition Switch ACC Circuit
Using scan tool in DATA MONITOR mode, check status of ignition switch. If scan tool displays IGN ACC SW ON with ignition switch in ACC or ON positions, and IGN ACC SW OFF with key removed from ignition switch, go to step 7). If scan tool display is not as specified, check fuse No. 19 (7.5-amp), located in fuse block. Check for open or short in wiring harness between BCM and fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. - Check Ignition Switch ACC Circuit
Using DVOM, measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and terminal No. 25 (Pink/Black wire) at BCM harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . DVOM should indicate battery voltage with ignition switch in ACC or ON position, and zero volts with ignition switch in OFF position. If voltage is as specified, go to step 8). If voltage is not as specified, check fuse No. 19 (7.5-amp), located in fuse block. Check for open or short in wiring harness between BCM and fuse. Repair as necessary. - Check Key Switch Input Signal
Using scan tool in DATA MONITOR mode, check status of key switch. If scan tool displays IGN KEY SW ON with key inserted in ignition switch, and IGN KEY SW OFF with key removed from ignition switch, check operation of mechanical parts in door lock system. If scan tool display is not as specified, check fuse No. 40 (7.5-amp), located in fuse block. Check key switch. Check for open or short in wiring harness between key switch and fuse, or between key switch and BCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. - Check Key Switch Input Signal
Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 31 (Yellow/Blue wire) at BCM harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . DVOM should indicate battery voltage with key inserted in ignition switch, and zero volts with key removed from ignition switch. If voltage is as specified, check operation of mechanical parts in door lock system. If voltage is not as specified, check fuse No. 40 (7.5-amp), located in fuse block. Check key switch. Check for open or short in wiring harness between key switch and fuse, or between key switch and BCM. Repair as necessary.
