Altima & Quest (1997 Models)

Move shift lever to Park. Loosen lock nut holding shift cable housing to bracket on transaxle. See Figure . Place manual shaft in Park. Pull shift cable from boot to remove slack. Push shift cable back into boot .039" (1.0 mm). Tighten shift cable lock nut to 97-132 INCH lbs. (11-15 N. m). Ensure shift lever moves smoothly and without sliding noise.
