Cruise Control Systems: Operation
Cruise control operation maintains vehicle at selected speed between 30-90 MPH (48-144 KM/H). To set cruise speed, turn main switch on (light on switch should illuminate), accelerate vehicle to desired speed greater than 30 MPH (48 KM/H) and press SET/COAST switch. To cancel cruise operation, either press CANCEL switch, press brake pedal, press clutch pedal (M/T) or shift into Neutral. Pressing RESUME will return cruise operation to the last previously set cruise speed.
Control module receives input signals from Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), cruise control main and command switches, and brake and clutch cancel switches. Control module processes input signals and sends output signals to vacuum pump and vacuum apply and release valves. In turn, controlled vacuum is applied to actuator diaphragm, opening or closing throttle plate as necessary.
