Removal & Installation

  1. Align timing mark(s) to piston No. 1 at TDC on compression stroke. Mark rotor position in relation to distributor housing. Disconnect spark plug wires and wiring harness connectors from distributor. Remove distributor hold-down bolt(s). Remove distributor. Installation
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure mark(s) or indentations on distributor shaft and housing are aligned. Check distributor rubber "O" ring seal and replace as necessary.
  3. After installing distributor, ensure distributor rotor is aligned with mark made during removal or set at cylinder No. 1 spark plug position. Check and adjust timing. See the ADJUSTMENTS article. Tighten distributor hold-down bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
