Removal & Installation - A/T: Automatic: Fwd: Installation

  1. Before installing torque converter, measure drive plate runout with a dial indicator. If runout exceeds.020" (.5 mm), replace drive plate. Install torque converter into transaxle, aligning index marks made during removal.
  2. Ensure torque converter is seated by measuring distance from drive plate mounting pad to engine mating surface of transaxle. If distance is not as specified, torque converter is not seated. See DRIVE PLATE MOUNTING PAD DEPTH table.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Apply sealant to torque converter bolts before installing bolts. Rotate crankshaft several times to ensure torque converter moves freely without binding. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table at end of article.
