Self-Diagnostic Procedures
- Verify that diagnosis mode selector is turned fully counterclockwise. Turn ignition switch to "ON" position. Make sure inspection lamps on control unit stay on. If okay, proceed to next step. If no good, check harness for battery source. If okay, replace control unit.
- Turn diagnosis mode selector fully clockwise. Inspection lamps on control unit should display codes 23, and 31. If not, write down codes displayed.
- Depress accelerator pedal and release. Inspection lamps on control unit should display codes 24 (300ZX Turbo) and 31. If not, write down codes displayed.
- On all models, start engine. Inspection lamps on control unit should display codes 31. If not, write down codes displayed.
- On Maxima go to next step. Inspection lamps on control unit should display codes 31. If not, write down codes displayed.
- Turn air conditioner switch from "OFF" position to "ON" position and then to "OFF" position. Inspection lamps on control unit should display codes 44. If not, write down codes displayed.
- Turn diagnosis mode selector fully counterclockwise. Turn off engine. Check malfunctioning area as listed in component testing. Erase memory of self-diagnosis results.
