Selector Lever Operation Check

  1. CHECK SELECTOR LEVER OPERATION 
    1. Shift the selector lever and check for excessive effort, sticking, noise or rattle.
    2. The selector lever automatically moves back to the H (home) position after it is operated.

      (1): Electrical parking switch

      (2): Reverse interlock button

      : Press the button (2) to shift

      : Shift without pressing the button (2)

    3. The selector lever cannot move to "R" position unless press the reverse interlock button.

      Is the inspection result normal? 

      YES: GO TO  2.

      NO: Repair or replace the selector lever. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  2. CHECK SHIFT POSITION 

    Turn the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON and check the following:

    1. When the selector lever shifts to each position during depressing the brake pedal, the shift position normally changes.
    2. When the brake pedal is not depressed at the "P" position, the shift position does not change even if the selector lever is operated.
    3. When the electrical parking switch is pressed and released at any shift position except the "P" position, the shift position changes into the "P" position.
    4. When the selector lever shifts to the "D/B" position again at the "D" position, the shift position changes into the "B" mode.
    5. When the selector lever shifts to the "D/B" position again at the "B" mode, the shift position changes into the "D" position.
    6. When the power supply mode of the electric motor switch turns OFF, the shift position automatically changes into the "P" position. (The selector indicator light of the "P" position turns ON.)
    7. If the driver' side seat belt is disengaged, and the door is opened while the shift position is not the "P" position, the shift position will automatically switch to the "P" position.

Is the inspection result normal? 

YES: INSPECTION END

NO: Check the electric shift control system.
