The Tightening Torque When An Extension Tool Is Used
When using an extension tool, calculate the torque value (T') by the formula below.
NOTE:
- If tightened until the read value of the torque wrench reaches the specified torque (T), the actual tightening torque will be excessive.
- Make sure that the torque wrench and the extension tool are connected to each other in a straight line when using them. If they are not connected in a straight line, the tightening torque does not satisfy the specified value.
Formula T'=T x L2/(L1+L2)
| Symbol | Item |
|---|---|
| T' | The read value of the torque wrench [N.m (kgfm)] |
| T | The specified tightening torque [N.m (kgfm)] |
| L1 | The length of the extension tool [mm (in)] |
| L2 | The length of the torque wrench [mm (in)] |
If oil or grease gets onto the heated oxygen sensor, it will cause a drop in the performance of the sensor. Cover the heated oxygen sensor with a protective cover when applying anti-corrosion agents and undercoats.
