Service Information
TPMS SENSOR DIAGNOSIS - 2007 & later Outlander, 2008 & later Lancer, Lancer EVO . The following information can help you when diagnosing affected vehicles for TPMS light illumination with DTCs recorded in memory. The following brief descriptions highlight the direction your diagnosis should take.
DTC C1900 - No Registration. No Sensors have been registered to the vehicle. Conduct the TPMS sensor registration procedure.
DTC C1915, 25, 35, 45 - No Activation. The individual sensor has not been activated (turned ON). Repairing this condition currently requires that the sensor be replaced with a new, sensor that will already be activated from the factory. Registration of the sensor to the vehicle is required after replacement.
DTC C1910, 20, 30, 40 - Transmitter Low Battery. Requires sensor replacement and registration.
DTC C1913, 23, 33, 43 - Acc Sensor Abnormality. Identifies a bad sensor. Requires sensor replacement and registration.
DTC C1914, 24, 34, 44 - Pressure sensor abnormality. Identifies a bad sensor. Requires sensor replacement and registration.
DTC C1911, 21, 31, 41 - Reception Abnormality. This code will set if the sensor signal is not recognized by the ECU. Requires registration to the vehicle. If tires are swapped between 2 vehicles and the sensors are not reregistered for BOTH vehicles, these DTCs will set after about 20 minutes of driving.
DTC C1912, 22, 32, 42 - Inflation Pressure Warning. Low air pressure in the identified tire. Ensure that tire pressures are properly adjusted. If not, diagnose for loss of air pressure and correct as necessary. Very cold weather may cause these DTCs to set until the vehicle is driven and the tire temperatures increase.
REMINDERS:
- MUT-III DTC codes are required for ALL TPMS warranty claims.
- The factory "registers" the sensors to the vehicle prior to vehicle shipping. They "deactivate" the sensor after registration. The port facility reactivates the sensors prior to shipping the vehicle to the dealer.
- Replacement sensors are shipped "activated." They must be "registered" to the vehicle.
- These vehicles require that the tire inflation pressure be reduced below 25 psi in order to register a sensor to the vehicle. Follow the prompts seen on the MUT-III screen for deflating the tires.
- It may take more than 30 seconds for the ECU to recognize that the sensor has been successfully registered. Proceed to the next sensor only after you have confirmed a successful sensor registration on the MUT-III screen.
- All registration and pressure adjustments should be done with the ignition in the ON position.
- If you have difficulty in getting a tire to register or setting pressures, move the vehicle a few feet and retry. This will cause the sensor to retransmit the data and it may be captured.
