Fuel Level Sensor Replacement < Fwd >

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly (Refer to REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY ).
  2. Pry off the service hole cover using a flat-tipped screwdriver, etc.

  3. Disconnect the fuel level sensor harness connector.

    CAUTION: Pay attention not to damage the sensor unit and the float of the fuel level sensor when withdrawing it from the service hole.
  4. Remove the fuel level sensor mounting bolts and remove the fuel level sensor from service hole.

  5. Check the fuel level sensor (Refer to FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CHECK < FWD > ).
    NOTE: If the standard resistance value or height of the float are out of standard value, replace the fuel level sensor with a new one.
    CAUTION: Pay attention not to damage the sensor unit and the float of the fuel level sensor when inserting it from the service hole.
  6. Install the fuel level sensor to the fuel tank through the service hole, and tighten the mounting nuts to the specified torque.

    Tightening torque: 2.5 +/- 0.4 N.m (22 +/- 4 in-lb)

  7. Connect the fuel level sensor harness connector.

  8. Apply the specified sealant to the contact surfaces of the service hole cover and the floor pan, and install the service hole cover.

    Specified sealant: 3M TM 8513 Grommets Windshield Sealer (Black) 

  9. Install the rear seat cushion assembly (Refer to REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY ).
