Shift Cable

Move gearshift lever from "P" position to "1" position. Shift detents should be felt in each position. If the detents cannot be felt or the pointer indicating the position is improperly aligned, the linkage needs adjustment.

  1. Place gearshift lever in "P" position.
  2. Loosen lock nuts.
  3. While pulling shift lever toward "R" position (without pushing shift lever release button), tighten turnbuckle until slight cable tension is achieved. See Fig 1 .

  4. Back off turnbuckle one turn. Tighten lock nuts to 35-53 INCH lbs. (4-6 N.m).
  5. Ensure shift lever moves smoothly.
