Montero Sport

  1. Turn A/C and lights OFF. Inspect and adjust at no load. Warm engine until stabilized at idle. Confirm idle speed is at prescribed RPM. See IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS  under IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE. Stop engine (ignition switch OFF).
  2. Confirm there are no sharp bends in accelerator cable. Check inner cable for correct slack. Standard value is 0.04-0.08" (1-2 mm). If there is too much slack or no slack, go to next step.
  3. Loosen jam nut and fully close throttle lever. See Fig 1. Tighten adjusting nut until just before throttle lever starts to move. By loosening adjusting nut one turn, accelerator cable slack will be brought to standard value.
  4. Fix adjusting nut with jam nut. After adjusting, check that throttle lever is touching stopper.
