Using Scan Tool

  1. Refer to manufacturer's operation manual for instructions in use of scan tool. Before entering on-board diagnostics, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Locate DLC under instrument panel, near steering column. See Figure.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn the ignition switch to ON position. Read and record scan tool self-diagnostic output. Proceed to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If scan tool will not communicate with PCM, diagnose communication concern. See SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATIONS . Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position before disconnecting scan tool.
