RKE Transmitter

NOTE: RKE transmitter programming should be performed only after verifying that door lock operates normally using key. All RKE transmitter codes must be registered when Electronic Time Alarm Control System (ETACS) ECU is replaced, a new RKE transmitter is to be added, or a problem with a registration code is expected. Scan tool must be used to register RKE transmitters. Four different RKE transmitters may be registered per vehicle. When a new code is registered for a RKE transmitter, all additional RKE transmitters used must be reprogrammed to new code.
  1. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of dash, next to center console. See Figure . Press hazard switch 6 times within 10 seconds. All doors will lock and unlock and registration mode will be started.
  2. Press RKE transmitter switch. Press RKE transmitter switch 2 more times within 10 seconds of first press. RKE transmitter code is registered. All doors will lock and unlock to indicate registration is complete. To register an additional RKE transmitter, registration must start within one minute using same procedure. Registration is terminated under the following conditions:
    • Four RKE transmitters have been registered.
    • One minute has elapsed after entering registration mode with no new entries.
    • Scan tool is disconnected.
    • Key is removed from lock cylinder.
  3. After registration is complete, remove ignition key and close all doors. Ensure keyless entry system operates properly.
