Inspection Procedure 2: Power Window Timer Does Not Work Normally

NOTE: To perform this test, MUT-II Scan Tool (MB991502), SWS Monitor Kit (MB991862) and Test Harness Set (MB991223) must be used.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to Scan Tool (MB991502), always turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool.
  1. Use scan tool to select ECU CHECK on the SWS monitor display. Check the ETACS-ECU. Connect scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC). Connect SWS monitor kit to the column switch connector. After the ignition switch is turned from ON position to the LOCK (OFF) position, scan tool should show OK on the ETACS ECU menu within approximately one minute. Is OK displayed on the ETACS ECU menu? If YES, go to next step. If NO, communication with the ETACS-ECU is impossible. See appropriate MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS article.
  2. Check the input signal by using service data of the SWS monitor. Check the input signals from the ignition switch and front door switches. Cycle ignition switch from ON to OFF position. Ensure that both front doors are closed. Select ETACS ECU (DATA LIST) and check that normal conditions are displayed on the items described. See POWER WINDOW SYSTEM INPUT TEST  table. Does the scan tool display the items IG SW (IG1), DR DOOR SW and PASS DOOR SW as normal condition? If YES, replace the ETACS-ECU. Check that the power window timer works normally. If NO and normal condition is not displayed IG SW (IG1), ETACS-ECU does not receive a signal from the ignition switch (IG1). See appropriate MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS article. If NO and normal condition is not displayed DR DOOR SW, ETACS-ECU does not receive a signal from the driver's or the front passenger's door switch. See appropriate MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS article. If NO and normal condition is not displayed PASS DOOR SW, ETACS-ECU does not receive a signal from the driver's or the front passenger's door switch. See appropriate MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS article.
