DTC 16: Abs Electronic Control Unit Power Supply: Testing

  1. If DTC 52 is also set, perform testing for DTC 52 before continuing. See DTC 52  . If DTC 52 is not set, go to next step.
  2. Check battery. Charge or service as necessary. If problem is found, repair or replace battery as necessary. After repair, go to step  5 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
  3. Check charging system. See appropriate GENERATORS & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If problem is found, repair or replace as necessary. After repair, go to step  5 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
  4. Check for poor terminal connection, open, short to ground or short to voltage in circuit between ignition switch terminal IG2 and ABS ECU. See Fig 1 . If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to next step. If no problem is found, replace ABS ECU/HU. See ABS ECU/HYDRAULIC UNIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool, recheck for symptom and DTC. If DTC does not reset, testing is complete. If DTC resets, repeat testing starting in step  1 .
