Abs Ecu/Hydraulic Unit
CAUTION:
Rollers and tires must be dry during testing.
NOTE:
During actuator test, ABS warning light will remain illuminated and anti-lock control will be deactivated. When ABS has been interrupted by fail-safe function, scan tool actuator testing cannot be used.
- Lift vehicle and support on jack stands placed at proper support points for this vehicle. If using braking force tester, place front wheels on rollers. When testing front brakes, engage parking brake. When testing rear brakes, stop front wheels by using a wheel chock.
- Release parking brake, and feel drag force (drag torque) on each road wheel. When using braking force tester, take a reading of the brake force.
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to DLC. After checking that shift lever or selector is in "N" or neutral position, start engine. Choose wheel to be tested by choosing test No. 1-4 on scan tool. Use scan tool to force drive the wheel actuator.
- Turn wheel by hand and check the change in braking force when brake pedal is depressed. When using braking force tester, depress brake pedal until brake force is at the following values, and verify braking force decreases when actuator is force driven. Front wheel is 176-220 Lbs. (785-981 N.m). Rear wheel is 132-176 Lbs. (588-784 N.m).
- If results of testing are abnormal, use diagnostic table to aid in repair. See Fig 1 .
