Inspection Procedure L-2: Front Dome Light Function Does Not Work Normally

NOTE: To perform this test, MUT-II Scan Tool (MB991502) and Test Harness Set (MB991223) must be used.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to Scan Tool (MB991502), always turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool.
  1. Check which of the front dome light, the rear dome light or the trunk light does not illuminate normally. Which of the front dome light, the rear dome light or the trunk light fail to illuminate normally? If front dome light does not illuminate normally, go to next step. If rear dome light does not illuminate normally, go to step  8. If trunk light does not illuminate normally, go to step  14.
  2. Check the front dome light bulb. Is the front dome light bulb in good condition? If YES, go to next step. If NO, replace the bulb. Check that the front dome light illuminates normally.
  3. Measure voltage at front dome light connector D-06 in order to check the ETACS-ECU line of the power supply to the front dome light. Disconnect front dome light connector D-06, and measure voltage at the wiring harness side. Measure the voltage between terminal No. 3 and ground. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . The measured value should be approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage). Does the measured voltage correspond with this specification? If YES, go to step  6. If NO, go to next step.
  4. Check front dome light connectors D-06 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 for damage. See Figure and Fig 1 . Is front dome light connector D-06 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 in good condition? If YES, go to next step. If NO, repair or replace the connector. Check that the front dome light illuminates normally.
  5. Check the wiring harness between front dome light connector D-06 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Also check intermediate connector C-27 and junction block connector C-78. See Figure and Fig 3 . If intermediate connector C-27 or junction block connector C-78 is damaged, repair or replace the connector. Is the wiring harness between front dome light connector D-06 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 in good condition? If YES, no action to be taken. If NO, repair the wiring harness. Check that the front dome light illuminates normally.
  6. Check front dome light connectors D-06 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 for damage. Is front dome light connector D-06 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 in good condition? If YES, go to next step. If NO, repair or replace the connector. Check that the front dome light illuminates normally.
  7. If YES, replace the ETACS-ECU. If NO, repair the wiring harness. Check that the front dome light illuminates normally.
  8. Check the rear dome light bulb. Is the rear dome light bulb in good condition? If YES, go to next step. If NO, replace the bulb. Check that the rear dome lights illuminate normally.
  9. Measure voltage at rear dome light connector D-27 in order to check the ETACS-ECU line of the power supply to the rear dome light. Disconnect rear dome light connector D-27 and measure voltage at the wiring harness side. Measure the voltage between Terminal No. 11 and ground. The measured value should be approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage). Does the measured voltage correspond with this specification? If YES, go to step  12. If NO, go to next step.
  10. Check rear dome light connectors D-27 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 for damage. Is rear dome light connector D-27 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 in good condition? If YES, go to next step. If NO, repair or replace the connector. Check that the rear dome lights illuminate normally.
  11. Check the wiring harness between rear dome light connector D-27 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Also check intermediate connector C-27, D-26 and junction block connector C-78. If intermediate connector C-27, D-26 or junction block connector C-78 is damaged, repair or replace the connector. Is the wiring harness between rear dome light connector D-27 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 in good condition? If YES, no action to be taken. If NO, repair the wiring harness. Check that the rear dome lights illuminate normally.
  13. Check the wiring harness between rear dome light connector D-27 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Also check intermediate connectors C-27, D-26 and junction block connector C-78. See Figure and Fig 3 . If intermediate connector C-27, D-26 or junction block connector C-78 is damaged, repair or replace the connector(s). Is the wiring harness between rear dome light connector D-27 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 in good condition? If YES, no action to be taken. If NO, repair the wiring harness. Check that the rear dome lights illuminate normally.
  14. Check the trunk light bulb. Is the trunk light bulb in good condition? If YES, go to next step. If NO, replace the bulb. Check that the trunk lights illuminate normally.
  15. Measure voltage at trunk light connector F-11 in order to check the ETACS-ECU line of the power supply to the trunk light. Disconnect trunk light connector F-11, and measure voltage at the wiring harness side. Measure the voltage between terminal No. 1 and ground. See Fig 4 and Fig 5 . The measured value should be approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage). Does the measured voltage correspond with this specification? If YES, go to step  18. If NO, go to next step.
  16. Check trunk light connector F-11 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 for damage. Is trunk light connector F-11 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 in good condition? If YES, go to next step. If NO, repair or replace the connector. Check that the trunk lights illuminate normally.
  17. Check the wiring harness between trunk light connector F-11 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Also check junction block connector C-77. See Fig 3. If junction block connector C-77 is damaged, repair or replace the connector. Is the wiring harness between trunk light connector F-11 and ETACS-ECU connector C-95 in good condition? If YES, no action to be taken. If NO, repair the wiring harness. Check that the trunk lights illuminate normally.
  18. Using pulse check, check the input signal. See PULSE CHECK . Check the input signals from the trunk lid latch switch. Connect scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC). When the trunk lid is opened and closed, check if scan tool sounds or not. When the trunk lid is opened and closed, does scan tool sound. If Yes, replace the ETACS-ECU. If No, refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURE O-9: THE TRUNK LID LATCH SWITCH SIGNAL IS NOT SENT TO THE ETACS-ECU . After repair, check that the trunk lights illuminate normally.
