Removal And Installation: Notes

WARNING: Before removing the steering gear box, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Center the front wheels. Failure to do so may damage the SRS clock spring and render the SRS system inoperative, risking serious injury.

For power steering gear box assembly removal procedures, follow numbered steps in illustration. See Fig 1. For power steering gear box assembly installation procedures, follow numbers steps in illustration in reverse order. Letters in illustration refer to service point to observe while removing and installing power steering gear box assembly. Letters with arrows pointing away from letter refer to service points to be observed while performing that step of the removal procedure. See REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS . Letters with arrows pointing towards letter refer to service points to be observed while performing that step of the installation procedure. See INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS .

MB991113 or MB990635: Steering Linkage Puller
