Failure Management
When main sensor malfunctions are detected, ECM/PCM will enter fail-safe mode. Default values will be substituted in ECM/PCM calculations for faulty sensor as follows:
- Barometric Pressure (BARO) Sensor
Sets At A Default Of 30 In. Hg (101 kPa) - Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor
ECM/PCM Will Command Injectors To Inject Fuel Into All Cylinders Simultaneously - Communication Line With Transaxle Control CPU
No Ignition Timing Retard Control Achieved When Transaxle Speeds Change - Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor
Sets At A Default Of 176°F (80°C) - Generator FR Terminal
Does Not Restrict Generator Output With Respect To Electrical Load - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Front
Air/Fuel Ration Closed Loop Control Is Not Performed - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Rear
Performs Closed Loop Control Of Air/Fuel Ration By Using Front HO2S Signals - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor
Sets At A Default Of 77°F (25°C) - Knock Sensor
Switches Ignition Timing From High Octane Fuel To Ignition Timing For Standard Octane Fuel - Misfire Detection
ECM/PCM Stops Supplying Fuel To The Cylinder With The Highest Misfiring Rate If A Misfire That Could Damage The Catalytic Converter Is Detected - Throttle Position (TP) Sensor
Fuel Injection Amount Will Not Increase During Acceleration Due To Unreliable Tp Sensor Signal - Volume Airflow (VAF) Sensor
ECM/PCM Will Use Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Signal (Engine Speed) & Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Signal To Determine Injector Drive Time & Basic Ignition Timing For The Pre-Set Mapping. Idle Air Control (IAC) Motor Remains In A Fixed Position
