SERVICE INFORMATION

REMOVING CODE ALARM SECURITY SYSTEM  - 1997-99 Montero Sport, Montero  . These security systems were installed either by the Port or the dealer as an accessory. Security System operation is solely through the system's ECU, and it does not use the ETACS. Often, customers will request a malfunctioning alarm be removed, rather than repaired. Simply unplugging the alarm module (located under the dash near the LH speaker) results in a no-crank condition due to a starter interlock function. To complete the removal process, refer to the circuit diagram and jump pins 12 & 13 at the connector for the security ECU (C-86 for Sport, C156 for Montero).
