Sensor Resistance Test

  1. Before testing sensor resistance, ensure pole piece-to-wheel speed sensor tip is clean. Check wheel sensor pole piece for damage. If pole piece is damaged, replace sensor.
  2. Disconnect sensor connector. Inspect sensor wiring harness for broken and pinched wires. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair harness as necessary. If harness is okay, go to next step.
  3. Using ohmmeter, check resistance across sensor terminals. Resistance for front sensors should be 900-1100 ohms on 1995 vehicles, or 1400-1800 ohms on 1996 vehicles. Resistance for rear sensors should be 1300-1500 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to GROUND CIRCUIT TEST. If resistance is not as specified, replace sensor.
