Using Voltmeter

  1. To retrieve stored DTCs, locate Data Link Connector (DLC) located under driver side of dash. Turn ignition off. Connect analog voltmeter between appropriate DLC terminals (ABS and ground). See Fig 1 . Go to next step.
  2. Start engine. Stored DTCs will be indicated by sweeps of voltmeter needle. Long sweeps indicate first digit of DTC; short sweeps indicate second digit. If more than one fault is present, lowest number DTC will be given first. After DTC(s) has been retrieved, test indicated component and/or related circuit (if necessary). See DTC DEFINITIONS  table.
