Code P0340: Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Fault
NOTE:
For component terminal identification, see TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION
in this article. For appropriate WIRING DIAGRAMS, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
section.
- With camshaft position sensor connector connected. Measure voltage between terminal No. 2 (Blue/Red wire) and ground. Voltage should be .4-3.0 volts, while cranking engine and .5-2.0 volts with engine idling. If voltage is not within specification, go to next step. If voltage is within specification, replace PCM.
- Disconnect camshaft position sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between position sensor connector terminal No. 3 (Red wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check wiring harness between MFI relay connector and camshaft position sensor.
- Measure voltage between position sensor connector terminal No. 2 (Blue/Red wire) and ground. If voltage is 4.8-5.2 volts, go to next step. If battery voltage is not 4.8-5.2 volts, check PCM connector and wiring harness between camshaft position sensor connector and PCM. If connector and wiring is okay, replace PCM.
- Check continuity between position sensor connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and ground. If continuity exists, check camshaft position sensor connector. If connector is okay, replace camshaft position sensor. If continuity does not exist, check wiring harness between camshaft position sensor and ground.
