Automatic Transmission Using Voltmeter

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Connect analog voltmeter negative lead to a data link connector ground terminal and positive lead to terminal No. 6. See Figure .
  2. If DTCs are stored in TCL module memory, voltmeter needle will begin to sweep. Long sweeps represent tens; short sweeps represent ones. For example, 4 long sweeps and 3 short sweeps indicate DTC 43. If 2 or more DTCs are stored, lowest number will be displayed first.
  3. After recording DTC(s), perform necessary testing. See the appropriate DIAGNOSIS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. If no DTCs are stored, voltmeter needle will sweep constantly.
