DTC 14: Accelerator Or Throttle Position Sensor Failure
NOTE:
DTC 14 is set when initial difference between Accelerator Position Sensor (APS) and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is 20 degrees or more due to an open circuit.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect APS connector. See Figure . Using DVOM in ohmmeter mode, check resistance between APS terminals No. 3 and 4. See Figure . Depress accelerator pedal slowly to floor while monitoring DVOM.
- If resistance increases from zero ohms to 3.5-6.5 ohms smoothly as pedal is depressed, replace TPS. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is not as specified, or resistance value changes erratically, replace APS. See ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR (APS) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
