DTC 14: Accelerator Or Throttle Position Sensor Failure

NOTE: DTC 14 is set when initial difference between Accelerator Position Sensor (APS) and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is 20 degrees or more due to an open circuit.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect APS connector. See Figure . Using DVOM in ohmmeter mode, check resistance between APS terminals No. 3 and 4. See Figure . Depress accelerator pedal slowly to floor while monitoring DVOM.
  2. If resistance increases from zero ohms to 3.5-6.5 ohms smoothly as pedal is depressed, replace TPS. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is not as specified, or resistance value changes erratically, replace APS. See ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR (APS)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
