Code 22: BRAKELIGHT Switch

  1. Disconnect brakelight switch connector. On models with cruise control, connect ohmmeter across switch terminals "A" and "B". See Fig 1 . On models without cruise control, connect ohmmeter across switch terminals.
  2. With brake pedal depressed (plunger extended), continuity should exist between switch terminals. With brake pedal released (plunger retracted), continuity should not exist.
  3. If Code 22 is stored and brakelight switch tests okay, check continuity between brakelight switch (Green wire) and terminal No. 18 of ECU. Inspect and repair circuit as needed.
