Scan Tool

  1. With ignition off, connect Multi-Use Tester (MB991502) and ROM Pack to diagnostic connector, located under driver's side of dash, and to cigarette lighter socket. See Fig 1 .

  2. Turn ignition on. ABS warning light should come on as ABS goes into self-diagnostic mode. Read and record all diagnostic output (trouble) codes from ECU memory. Refer to Multi-Use Tester II (MUT-II) instructions for specific trouble code retrieval procedure.
  3. After all trouble codes have been retrieved and recorded, clear codes from ECU memory. Refer to Multi-Use Tester II (MUT-II) instructions for specific trouble code clearing instructions. See TROUBLE CODE DEFINITION  . See appropriate CODE under TESTING  .
  4. If trouble codes cannot be cleared, ECU is currently detecting a malfunction. If codes can be cleared, problem is either intermittent or only appears while driving.
