ISSUE & TIP

When diagnosing gear clash between shifts, or hard shifting, or when changing clutches on Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon and all similar Diamond/Star vehicles, try the following:

Go under the dash with a 14mm deepwell socket and ratchet.
While pulling up on the clutch pedal, tighten the right side of the clutch linkage cross shaft.
When this comes loose, the clutch master does not fully depress when the pedal is to the floor, causing the aforementioned problems.
