GEAR CLASH BETWEEN SHIFTS/HARD SHIFTING/CHANGING CLUTCHES
YEAR(S): 1990-98
MANUFACTURER: Mitsubishi, Eagle
MODEL(S): Eclipse, Talon
DATE OF ISSUE: March 1998
ISSUE & TIP
When diagnosing gear clash between shifts, or hard shifting, or when changing clutches on Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon and all similar Diamond/Star vehicles, try the following:
- Go under the dash with a 14mm deepwell socket and ratchet.
- While pulling up on the clutch pedal, tighten the right side of the clutch linkage cross shaft.
- When this comes loose, the clutch master does not fully depress when the pedal is to the floor, causing the aforementioned problems.
