Anti-Lock Brake System: Operation: Notes

The RWAL control unit continuously monitors stoplight switch input, as well as wheel speed and G-force sensor input signals, to determine control of the modulator valve and ANTI-LOCK warning light. Control unit is located under center of instrument panel, behind G-force sensor.

If RWAL control unit detects a malfunction in the RWAL system, control unit will turn on ANTI-LOCK warning light by providing a ground circuit at terminal No. 8 of control unit. When a malfunction code is stored and ANTI-LOCK light is illuminated, control unit will disable anti-lock function. During this time, system will function as a normal hydraulic brake system. When system returns to normal, control unit will enable anti-lock function.
