Combination Switch Continuity Tests

Remove combination switch from steering column if necessary. See COMBINATION SWITCH R & I  . Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between terminals of each connector in each switch position. See COMBINATION SWITCH CONNECTORS CONTINUITY TEST  . SeeFig 1 through Fig 4 . Ensure wire leads are not being pulled while moving switch from one position to another. Ensure switch lever works freely (without binding).

Dimmer/Passing Switch Positions (2)
HU 2 & 3
HL 1 & 2
P 2, 3 & 4
Hazard & Turn Signal Switch Positions (3)
Hazard Switch Off
L (Left) 1 & 2 and 5 & 11
N (Neutral) 5 & 11
R (Right) 1 & 3 and 5 & 11
Hazard Switch On
L, N & R 1, 2, 3 & 4 and 11 & 12
Wiper Switch Positions (4)
OFF 21 & 19
INT 21 & 19 and 18 & (5) 16
LOW 21 & 16
HI 20 & 16
Washer Switch Positions (6)
OFF No Continuity Between 17 & 18
ON 17 & 18
(1) Test terminals of connector No. 1. SeeFig 1 & 2.
(2) Test terminals of connector No. 2. SeeFig 1 & 2.
(3) Test terminals of connector No. 1. SeeFig 1 & 3.
(4) Test terminals of connector No. 1. SeeFig 1 & 4.
(5) Also variable continuity between terminals No. 13 & 16.
(6) Test terminals of connector No. 1. SeeFig 1 & 4.
