Strut Assembly: Reassembly
- Install new gas type shock absorber assembly into strut and tighten ring nut with spanner wrench. Attach label, furnished with shock absorber, over drilled hole to prevent water entry.NOTE: Coil springs have color marks to indicate spring identification and load classification. Ensure when springs are replaced, markings are for appropriate vehicle.
- Install coil spring. Extend piston rod assembly and install strut components. Ensure rubber bumper is attached to spring upper seat with a heat resistant drying adhesive before installing. Align "D" shaped hole in center of spring upper seat with machined flat on piston rod shaft.
- Align locating holes or grooves in upper and lower seats with spring locating pins. Hold seat and install insulator by attaching new self-locking nut. Remove spring compressor. Pack strut insulator bearing with grease and install dust cap.
