Fuel Injected Models

  1. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Position steering wheel in straight-ahead position. Stop engine. Disconnect accelerator cable from throttle lever at injection mixer.
  2. Turn ignition on (engine off) for more than 15 seconds. This sets ISC (idle speed control) servo at initial position. Motor position sensor output voltage will be .9 volts. Turn ignition off. Disconnect wiring harness at ISC servo. See Fig 1 .
  3. To prevent binding of throttle valve, open throttle valve 2 or 3 times and allow it to return with a snap. Loosen SAS (speed adjusting screw) screw. Start engine and check idle speed. Adjust idle speed by turning ISC (idle speed control) adjusting screw. See Fig 1 .
  4. Tighten SAS screw until engine speed just starts to increase. Loosen SAS screw until engine speed does not drop. This is the touch point. Loosen SAS screw 1/2 turn from touch point. Stop engine. Turn ignition on (engine off).
  5. Using Connector (MD998459) connect a voltmeter to Green/Black and Green/Red terminals at TPS connector. TPS voltage should be .48-.52 volts. If voltage is out of specification, adjust by loosening screws on TPS and rotating. Turn ignition off.
  6. Start engine and run until curb idle speed is reached. Stop engine. Turn ignition on (engine off) for 15 seconds. Connect accelerator cable and adjust as required. Ensure idle position switch touches stopper after adjustment.
