Fuel Gauge

Disconnect fuel gauge connector wire in luggage compartment, cargo space or at tank unit. On all models, connect a 12-volt 3.4-watt bulb to harness side of connector, between power terminal and ground. Turn ignition on. Make sure that test bulb flashes on and off and that fuel gauge operates. SeeFig 1 .

On Starion models, connect test light between terminals No. 2 and No. 3. On Galant models, connect test light between terminal No. 1 and ground. On all other models, connect test light from connector to ground. Turn ignition on. Make sure that test light flashes (or stays on) and fuel gauge needle deflects.

NOTE: Keeping wire grounded too long can damage coils in gauge. Perform test as quickly as possible.
