Temperature Gauge
- Unplug temperature sender wire at sending unit from inside engine compartment. Connect a 12-volt, 3.4-watt test light between connector and ground. Turn ignition switch to "ON" position. Make sure that test light flashes (or stays on) and temperature gauge needle deflects.
- If gauge is okay, heat water to 158°F (70°C). Remove sending unit from engine block and place sending unit in water. Tip of sending unit should be placed so that its sensing tip is .12" (3 mm) from surface of water. Resistance for all models should be approximately 104 ohms.
