Vacuum Pump

An auxiliary vane-type vacuum pump is used. This pump, driven off the alternator, supplies vacuum to run the power brake booster. To test vacuum pump on alternator, use a photoelectric tachometer and reflective tape. Connect a vacuum gauge to the hose between the vacuum pump and the brake booster. Run vacuum pump at specified RPM to obtain vacuum readings.
