Checking Fluid Level

  1. Position vehicle on a level surface and set parking brake. Run engine at idle. Move selector lever through all positions, ending in "N".
  2. With engine at normal operating temperature, remove dipstick and wipe with a clean cloth, and check oil level. Oil level must be between "FULL" and "ADD" mark of dipstick.
CAUTION: If severe darkening of the fluid and a strong odor is noted, fluid and filter should be changed and bands adjusted.
