84 10 700 Removing and installing/replacing base plate

Special tools required: 

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DAMAGE (ESD PROTECTION) .

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Removal: 

Unclip the cable clip (1) and expose the access lines (2, 3) up to the base plate.

If necessary press button (1) and remove cover (2).

Disengage the base plate (1) from the center armrest on both sides with special tool 00 9 340 .

Turn base plate (1) away to the side.

Release screws from upper housing section (2).

Raise upper housing section (1) and release cable strap if necessary.

Unlock and disconnect cable (2) to fan.

Unclip all the cables on the underside of the upper housing section (1).

Feed out all cables and remove base plate.

Installation: 

Feed in all cables and base plate.

Clip in all the cables on the underside of the upper housing section (1).

If necessary, secure cable to upper housing section (1) with cable strap.

Connect cable (2) to fan.

Tighten screws on upper housing section (2).

Join base plate (1) in upper housing section (2).

NOTE: Ensure base plate (1) is correctly fitted and engaged in upper housing section (2).

If necessary, join cover (2) in base plate (1).

Join the access lines (2, 3) to the center armrest and clip in the cable clip (1).

NOTE: Make sure connecting lines (2, 3) are correctly routed.
