Encode/program control unit(s)
NOTE:
Depending on the vehicle and the equipment, the following flat rate unit positions are available for programing/encoding:
- 61 00 710
- 61 00 720
- 61 00 730
NOTE:
- In order to avoid incorrect programing procedures and Check Control message, it is essential to always use the most recent version when working with the BMW ISTA/P programing system.
- Battery voltage must not undershoot 13.0 V
during programing. Connect battery charger prior to programing.
Only use battery chargers* recommended by BMW for low voltage vehicle electrical system.

IMPORTANT:
No high-voltage switch off is required in electric vehicles or hybrid vehicles for programing/coding.
The high-voltage system will be automatically switched off by the programing system.

programing routine via BMW'S ISTA/P:
- Connect the battery charger to the vehicle.
- Connect the programing system with the vehicle.
- Determine the action plan.
- Accept and carry out programing/encoding action plan, if necessary unlocking control unit.
- Observe the reworking list!
- If applicable, connect the workshop system to the vehicle, depending on the reworking list. Perform brief test and delete fault memory.NOTE: A switch to the workshop system may not necessarily be required with the integration of the service functions and the "Fault memory deletion" function in ISTA/P. Check the rework list accordingly!
- The information about programing the workshop system and the corresponding notes in the user documentation must be observed.
